How to Wear Rudraksha for the First Time: A Guide to Sanctification and Energization

Before wearing a Rudraksha bead or mala for the first time, it is essential to sanctify and energize it. This practice ensures that the Rudraksha is imbued with positive energy and spiritual power, making it effective in promoting health, wealth, and spiritual growth. At Rudraksha World, we take care to sanctify and energize the beads through Vedic rites before sending them to you. However, if you’d like to perform the sanctification yourself, here’s a simple procedure you can follow.

How to Sanctify Rudraksha

  1. Choose an Auspicious Day: Mondays are considered auspicious as they are dedicated to Lord Shiva, making it a great day to begin the sanctification process.
  2. Prepare the Space: Place the Rudraksha mala on a plate in front of you, and sit or stand facing east. Light incense, dhoop (a type of incense), or an oil lamp to create a sacred atmosphere.
  3. Cleansing the Beads: Wash the Rudraksha with water, or lightly sprinkle water on the beads using a leaf. This is done to purify the beads before starting the mantra chanting process.
  4. Offer Flowers: Sprinkle fresh flowers on the beads as an offering to enhance their sanctity.
  5. Chanting the Mantra: Begin chanting the mantra “Om Namah Shivaya” 108 times to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva. This mantra is powerful for spiritual protection and awakening.
  6. Apply Sandalwood Paste: Gently apply sandalwood paste on the Rudraksha mala. If the beads are intended for wearing, a light touch or application of sandalwood powder is sufficient.
  7. Chant the Beeja Mantras: Every Rudraksha bead has a specific Beeja mantra. Chant the mantra corresponding to the number of Mukhi (facets) on your Rudraksha mala. Repeat each mantra 27 times or as often as you prefer. Here are some common Beeja mantras for Rudraksha:
    • 1 Mukhi Rudraksha: Aum Hreem Namah
    • 2 Mukhi Rudraksha: Aum Namah

Daily Mantra Chanting and Energizing the Rudraksha

Rudraksha Energization

After sanctifying the Rudraksha, you can begin wearing it. The more you chant the Beeja mantras, the more powerful and effective the Rudraksha becomes. You can chant the mantra of your choice (3, 9, 11, or 27 times) daily, or simply keep chanting “Om Namah Shivaya” throughout the day in your mind.

To further energize the Rudraksha beads, you can keep them close to your skin. Wearing them regularly or keeping them in your puja (prayer) room will enhance their effects. The mantra chanting also helps amplify their power and benefits for you and your family.
